Polimorfismo asociado a la susceptibilidad a caries dental

Resumen

La susceptibilidad a presentar y desarrollar caries dental está íntimamente ligada al genoma del huésped. El objetivo primordial de la presente investigación es identificar, categorizar y definir los genes y sus principales polimorfismos los cuales a través de métodos experimentales se han asociado a la susceptibilidad de caries dental. Los genes involucrados en el desarrollo del esmalte, así como los genes relacionados en la preferencia de los sabores dulces han sido asociados a la susceptibilidad de presentar caries dental. Entre los genes involucrados en el desarrollo del esmalte cuyos polimorfismos repercuten en dicha susceptibilidad, se encuentran AMEL, ENAM, AMBN, MMP TUFT1 y KLK4, y los genes asociados al gusto cuyos polimorfismos están asociados son TAS1R2 y TAS1R3. Además, dentro de estos genes se han descubierto polimorfismos que actúan de manera protectora ante lesiones cariosas.
