Anticonceptivos hormonales y migraña: evidencia y riesgos

Resumen

El presente estudio analizó la relación del uso de anticonceptivos hormonales (AH) combinados y la migraña, enfatizando la amenaza de sufrir un accidente cerebrovascular en pacientes con esta patología preexistente. Los resultados sugieren que el empleo de anticonceptivos hormonales combinados aumenta la amenaza de accidentes cerebro vasculares en mujeres con migraña, especialmente en aquellas con migraña con aura (MA). Aunque algunos estudios indican que ciertos anticonceptivos pueden aliviar los síntomas de la migraña, la evidencia es limitada y se necesita nuevos estudios para confirmar estos hallazgos. Se realizó una búsqueda retrospectiva de artículos científicos entre febrero y marzo de 2024, utilizando DeCS y motores de búsqueda académicos. Se escogieron 12 artículos, las cuales cumplían con criterios de inclusión específicos, tras un proceso de selección independiente por parte de los coautores y consenso final.
