Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst-Gorlin's Cyst. Clinical case report

Introduction: calcifying odontogenic cyst, also known as "Gorlin's cyst", is a rare developmental odontogenic disease.
Objective: to describe a case with a diagnosis of calcifying odontogenic cyst, its diagnosis and surgical treatment.
Case presentation: 15 year old male patient who comes for surgical examination. The patient complains of deformity in the anterior mandibular area which is only detected intraorally and slightly extraorally. The patient was evaluated through his personal history, clinical examination, imaging studies (panoramic radiography, tomography). A stereolithographic model was sent for stereolithography because the lesion covered the basal mandibular border. For the surgical approach a mandibular vestibular incision was used to expose the whole lesion, then the involved dental organs and the odontoma were excised.
Conclusions: this type of cyst has both cystic and neoplastic potential and presents a considerable number of clinical, radiographic and histopathologic variants, it is a rare odontogenic cyst of evolutionary origin that should be diagnosed in a timely manner with surgical intervention.
