Attention deficit and hyperactivity in Oral Health and development of children aged 5 to 7 years

Introduction: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a neurobiological condition that affects the behavior, attention and learning of children and adolescents whose symptoms depend on factors such as the environment and the people with whom the child lives.
Objective: to describe the appropriate behavior of the dental professional in consultation for the management of infants with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Methods: the systematic search was performed again in December 2022, in PubMed, Scielo, academic Google, limiting the results to publications made since 2017. Specifically, 41 results were obtained in PubMed, 18,900 in Google Scholar and from Scielo 86. Before proceeding to the selection of articles, inclusion and exclusion criteria were defined.
Development: this disorder is generally present in infants and increases the risk of dental caries in these patients, therefore preventive measures such as tooth brushing, fluoride supplementation and dietary advice can be effective in minimizing this effect, which is why the objective was to increase the levels of anxiety, which makes it difficult for the child to control the treatment, as well as the positive relationship between the patient and the dentist.
Conclusions: this disorder leads to dental problems due to the lack of interest of children in oral care and of their parents in not providing the necessary attention required by this type of patients.
