Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental disorders: a valuable tool for the general practitioner

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is a reference text for specialists in Psychiatry; however, its use has increasingly expanded among primary health care professionals. An analysis is conducted of the chapters of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and their practical application to mental health problems managed by the general practitioner, taking into account their levels of intervention. Reference is also made to the most significant elements that this book provides for the general practitioner.
