Proteins play a fundamental role in dental tissue repair and regeneration, contributing to injury healing, alveolar bone restoration, and the development of new therapeutic strategies in oral tissue engineering. Among these proteins, growth factors and bioactive agents have proven crucial in regulating cellular responses and enhancing bone and periodontal regeneration. This review focuses on the biological processes through which proteins affect dental tissue healing and regeneration, examining their role in dental procedures such as tooth extractions, bone grafting, and dental implants. The effect of both endogenous and externally applied proteins will be examined, assessing their influence on regeneration and the enhancement of regenerative dentistry treatments. The purpose of this analysis is to provide a comprehensive perspective on the therapeutic applications of these proteins in dentistry, investigating their ability to optimize clinical outcomes, accelerate tissue regeneration, and contribute to the development of sophisticated biomaterials for tissue reconstruction in the dental sector.
