Introduction: dental veneers are a dental treatment used to improve the appearance of anterior teeth. They are fabricated with customized materials that adhere to the vestibular surface of the dental organ, correcting esthetic imperfections.
Objective: to compare Zirconium, Lithium Disilicate and Ceromers in terms of resistance, esthetics and processing.
Methods: a bibliographic, exploratory, qualitative research was carried out using articles from biomedical databases: PubMed, Scielo and Redalyc, through the search engine: Google Scholar. With the exclusion and inclusion criteria established, it was determined that the study of the bibliographic review would be focused on three materials: Zirconium, Lithium Disilicate and Ceromers.
Development: among the materials to perform these procedures we have zirconium veneers, lithium disilicate and ceromers. Zirconium is a popular ceramic due to its esthetics, biocompatibility and hardness. However, it can have a dull appearance, so layering materials have been proposed to mask this. On the other hand, lithium disilicate is used in veneers and esthetic facets, offering good esthetic results and improved tooth integrity. However, it has less tolerance to deformation and requires precautions during cementation and finishing. Finally, ceromers are hybrid biomaterials composed of ceramic particles.
Conclusions: for the elaboration of dental veneers, from Zirconium, Lithium Disilicate and Ceromers, the selection of the material will depend on several factors such as esthetics, cost and need of each patient.
