Tooth extraction techniques: conventional and atraumatic Benex II. A brief comparison

The conventional technique described for several decades is based on using instruments; forceps and dental elevators, to grasp the tooth and perform gentle rotational and traction movements to loosen it and extract it from the socket. If the tooth is fractured, impacted or has not erupted completely, it may require surgical extraction. In this case, an incision is made in the gingival tissue to access the tooth and, in some cases, it may be necessary to section the tooth into smaller fragments to facilitate its extraction. It may also be necessary to remove some of the surrounding bone to access the tooth. Atraumatic tooth extraction, also known as atraumatic exodontics, refers to the technique used to remove a tooth in a gentle manner while minimizing any damage or trauma to the surrounding tissue. The main goal of this approach is to preserve the health of the alveolar bone and soft tissues, reduce bleeding and accelerate healing.
